Despite having an awful summer cold and having to work today I managed to get the decals in my kitchen done, and I have to say, I like them a lot more than I thought I would, although I sort of wish I'd gotten them in silver.
I finally got around to putting up some of the Blik decals, but only did one. Those things are NOT easy to do. I decided to make my bathroom look like some demented hotel lobby with the chandelier. Since the entire bathroom is tiled, there really was no other option.
Here's the before Ew, right? Here's the after
I'll take another picture when the sun comes up for the competition. I'm supposed to have the other two done by Wednesday, but I highly doubt I'll get more than one more done. I did have one other huge accomplishment. I FINALLY got my Robert Whitman picture framed, and I think it looks amazing.
I had a feeling Gossip Girl would be genius, but so genius as to use Carroll Gardens in its cutaways? Complete Genius! I was only slightly more excited when Flight of the Conchords used Warren Street for ambiance, but mostly because they're adorably Australiany New Zealandy musically funny with cute hair.
I haven't told anyone this, but a couple of weeks ago I was looking at the words people type in to end up at my blog and saw a frightening combination of words "Ed (his last name) landlord Brooklyn" - It didn't really freak me out until I looked and saw that the IP address was from the New York State DA's office - Eek! I've done nothing wrong, the only thing I could think would be that because I've been blogging about him and once used his full name he could sue me for defamation of character or something. And, certainly, he would never return my deposit to me. But I walked into my vestibule last night, opened my mailbox and there it was; a hand written envelope containing a check with the full amount of my deposit. Its a miracle!
It was a lovely night to wander around my new neighborhood with the beams of light from downtown lighting up the sky. But without a tripod, things are fuzzy and since they were fuzzy I gave up getting rid of the orange color.
As for the apartment progress, its looking a lot more like a place someone lives rather than a place someone unpacked their belongings. In the past couple of months I've become re-addicted to Apartment Therapy and a while back they had a little contest to giveaway wall decals to 12 people (there will be prizes to whomever uses them most creatively) and I'm goingto getsome! Perfect for my pretty yellow wall. The only downside is that I have to have it all together within 10 days and so this weekend I'll be painting my wardrobes and dresser in order to make my decals work. The upside is that I'm not really interested in the cash prizes, although if you know me you know I like to win anything, I'm just excited to try them out.
