Pine Cones in Yosemite

I'm about halfway through a Nova show about the family in Turkey that walks on their hands, I'm sure you remember when they made news.  It's quite fascinating.  Here's what I've found out so far; there are 19 children in the family and 5 of them are afflicted.  The five that are afflicted are also mildly to very retarded (and I mean that in a clinical term, they seemed like lovely people in a social way).  Their parents are cousins (second cousins, I gathered). 2 of them can also walk upright, but are unbalanced so it looks like they're drunk when they do.  Apes who walk in a similar way on all fours actually have different wrist bones that do not bend which helps them to walk on their knuckles while the family in Turkey walks on their palms.  The Turkish society does not like that scientists are studying them because it is forbidden to discuss evolution and their society is offended that they may be the missing link to evolution.  In fact they are sure that their home is cursed, which made the family tear down their home and rebuild a new one, but that surprisingly didn't seem to cure the siblings.

Also, did you know that South Africa passed a gay marriage bill?  That's right, the country that is only a decade or so past apartheid has leapt pass America when it comes to giving its citizens rights. 

And finally - God bless Montana. For years I've been trying to tell people that although they're conservative out there, they're certainly not crazy Christan right wingers and they would eventually come to their senses and elect some people who would represent them correctly!

Aaaahhh

Working 8 hours with a producer who actually does his job...so refreshing.  I actually went to bed unstressed, woke up unstressed and haven't even thought about anything important yet.   So nice.  So different than the last few months.   So, so unstressed.  4 days until my party!  My table gets here today and hopefully the woman who's buying my old table actually shows up.  Oh, and I got a new ion hair dryer that cut out about 20 minutes of hair drying.  20 extra minutes to my morning that I can continue to think about nothing.  Life is good, once again.

Thats it.  I'm thinking of buying a little treo or blackberry phone today.  I have to go see them first though.  I don't want to spend lots of money on something that will just be outdated in a few months.

The very first time

I've thought about doing this in the past but always felt a bit shy about sharing myself like this.  But after some more thought here I am.  I'd like a way to share my photos in the hopes it'll give me an outlet outside of work, which is sapping my spirit these days.  I'll start out slow and see how it goes.  My first pictures represent the way I take photos.
